Duke Energy Special Agreement

As part of the agreement, seven of the ponds are excavated and ashes are transferred to coated landfills, two at Allen Steam Station (Belmont, N.C.), one at Belews Creek Steam Station (Belews Creek, N.C.), one at Mayo Plant (Roxboro, N.C.), one basin at Roxboro Plant (Semora, N.C Cliff) and two at side/Rogers Complex Energyplex (Mooresboro), N.C.). Section 1. HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL PLANS: (a) Health insurance consists of the negotiated EPO special plan and remains in force for the duration of the 2008-2012 contract. All conditions of the EPO plan specifically negotiated with regard to the design of the plan, the services covered, premiums and other staff costs must be in line with the 2008 negotiating letter entitled « Healthcare ». Regulators, community groups and Duke Energy have agreed on a plan to permanently close the company`s nine remaining coal ash ponds in the state. The agreement reduces estimated closure costs by about $1.5 billion, while ensuring that people, communities and the environment are well protected. The agreement provides for accelerated government authorizations that would keep projects on an early schedule, with excavations at all six sites completed within 10 to 15 years. As a result of the comparison, deC and DEP will, in the fourth quarter of 2020, charge a one-time upfront earnings charge of approximately $500 million, which will be treated as a special deposit and excluded from adjusted earnings per share. . . .
